Therapy for Anxiety, Burnout & Relationship Issues

Being in a relationship where you constantly doubt yourself is exhausting. Fear of making mistakes, undeserved guilt, and the feeling of being trapped can quietly erode trust in your own judgment. In therapy, we work to understand what has happened, regain emotional clarity, and rebuild self-esteem from a place that truly feels your own.

Divorce and major life changes are not just external events, they reshape identity, goals, and certainties. Feeling disoriented, isolated, or paralyzed when facing big decisions is completely normal. Therapy helps you navigate these transitions with emotional support, process loss, and reconnect with a renewed sense of direction, stability, and self-trust.

Divorce and major life changes are not just external events, they reshape identity, goals, and certainties. Feeling disoriented, isolated, or paralyzed when facing big decisions is completely normal. Therapy helps you navigate these transitions with emotional support, process loss, and reconnect with a sense of direction and stability.

Living in a different country can bring both excitement and emptiness. Nostalgia, isolation, or the sense of never fully belonging can make daily decisions feel heavier. Therapy for expats helps you process the emotional impact of relocation, grieve what was left behind, and build inner resources to live this stage with more clarity and purpose.

When work loses its meaning, the resulting stress often seeps into every area of life. Fatigue, self-doubt, and fear of changing jobs or of staying can take over. Therapy helps you identify accumulated pressures, clarify your true needs, and make career decisions aligned with your authentic self, rather than acting from exhaustion or external expectations.

Anxiety and burnout don’t always feel like “nerves”. They can appear as a mind that won’t switch off, a body under constant tension, and guilt that even rest can’t erase. Therapy helps you address this state of overdrive and hypervigilance, understand its roots, and restore a more sustainable daily rhythm, with greater calm, clarity, and a renewed sense of wellbeing.

My Approach

I’m Talí Uribe, a therapist based in Valencia and Madrid, and I welcome clients with openness and create a safe, non-judgmental space. My goal is to help ease distress and break cycles of overthinking, fostering clarity and a renewed perspective.

Together, we explore what feels limiting and move toward meaningful growth. I have guided many people through complex decisions – ending or repairing relationships, changing careers, or restructuring family dynamics – always respecting personal values, circumstances, and pace.

Therapy is a collaborative process. Clients bring their experiences and insights, while I contribute curiosity and evidence-based tools such as IFS, logotherapy, mindfulness, and transactional analysis. Each session adapts to your rhythm, supporting decisions that align with your authentic priorities.

a) IFS (Internal Family Systems): For exploring and healing conflicting or overwhelmed parts of the self.

b) Existential Analysis: For those seeking deeper meaning or facing questions about freedom, existence, and purpose.

c) Transactional Analysis: For improving communication, breaking repetitive relational patterns, and building emotional autonomy.

IFS Therapy in Spain

Internal Family Systems is an evidence-based approach that has transformed the way I work with clients. Rather than seeing difficult emotions as problems to fix, IFS recognises that every part of you, the anxious part, the self-critical part, the part that wants to shut down, developed for a reason and carries wisdom. In IFS therapy, we gently get to know these parts, understand what they are protecting, and help them release old burdens so you can lead your life from a calmer, more centred place. I completed my IFS Level 1 certification through the IFS Institute in December 2025. If you are looking for IFS therapy in Spain, I offer sessions in English and Spanish, in person in Valencia and Madrid, or online from anywhere.

Burnout and Anxiety Therapy in Valencia and Spain

Burnout is especially common among expats and international professionals in Spain. The pressure of performing in a second language, navigating unfamiliar work cultures, and having limited support networks can accelerate exhaustion. If you have reached the point where Sundays fill you with dread, where you cannot remember the last time you felt genuinely motivated, or where your body is sending signals you keep ignoring, therapy can help. Together, we identify what has been draining you, rebuild boundaries that protect your energy, and reconnect you with a sense of purpose beyond productivity.

Recovering from Narcissistic Abuse

Recovery from narcissistic abuse is not a straight line. You may leave the relationship and still hear their voice in your head, still question whether you are overreacting, still feel the pull to go back. That is not weakness. It is the legacy of a pattern designed to keep you dependent. In therapy, we work with these parts of you gently and without judgement, using IFS to understand why they hold on and what they need in order to let go. Many of my clients come to me feeling broken. What they discover is that they are far stronger than the relationship made them believe.

Relationship Therapy for Expats and Couples in Valencia & Madrid

Relationship problems after moving abroad are something I see very often in my practice. Relocation shifts the balance in a couple. One partner may adapt quickly while the other feels lost, roles change overnight, and the support network you once relied on is suddenly thousands of kilometres away. These pressures do not mean your relationship is broken. They mean it is under strain that neither of you was prepared for. In therapy, we explore what the move has surfaced, rebuild communication, and find a way forward that honours both of your experiences.

I also work with English-speaking couples in Valencia who want to strengthen their relationship or navigate a difficult period together. Whether you are an expat couple adjusting to life in Spain, a bilingual pair struggling to bridge cultural differences, or a couple facing a crossroads, I offer a safe and structured space for both partners to be heard. Sessions are available in person in Valencia and online.

FAQs

I feel stuck in life but I am not sure I need therapy. Is this something you work with?

Absolutely. Feeling stuck is one of the most common reasons people reach out to me. You do not need a diagnosis or a crisis to start therapy. Sometimes it is that persistent feeling of going through the motions without real direction or fulfilment. In our sessions, we explore what is keeping you stuck, whether it is fear, old patterns, a loss of meaning, or something you have not yet been able to name, and we work together to help you move forward with clarity and confidence.

Can anxiety get worse when you move to another country?

Yes, and it is more common than people realise. The stress of adapting to a new culture, communicating in a different language, and being far from your support network can all intensify anxiety, or trigger it for the first time. As a therapist who works with expats in Spain, I see this regularly. The good news is that anxiety responds very well to therapy, especially when you can work with someone who genuinely understands the context you are living in.

How do I know if I have burnout or if I am just tired?

Ordinary tiredness goes away with rest. Burnout does not. If you feel emotionally drained even after time off, if you have become cynical about work that used to matter to you, or if your body is constantly tense, these may be signs of burnout. In therapy, we look at the full picture, not just your workload, but your inner patterns around rest, boundaries, and self-worth, to build a sustainable recovery.

How do I know if I need therapy?

If you experience ongoing emotional distress or feel stuck, repeating patterns or struggling to move forward—even without knowing why—therapy can help you gain clarity, emotional balance, and practical tools for change.

What happens in the first therapy session?

The first session is a space to get to know each other, understand your reasons for seeking therapy, and explore if you feel comfortable to work with me.

How long are sessions and how often do they take place?

Sessions last 50–60 minutes and are usually held weekly, though frequency can be adjusted to fit your needs and goals.

What is the fee and how can I pay?

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. Therapy is fully confidential and follows ethical and legal standards.

How does online therapy compare to in-person therapy?

Both are equally effective. Online sessions take place via video call, while in-person sessions are held in the office. You can choose whichever option feels most comfortable.

The duration varies for each person. Some processes are short-term, while others go deeper. Progress and goals are reviewed throughout therapy.
